If you’ve ever lived where it rains lot or snows even more you know the importance of a good pair of boots. I am not all about fashion but some boots are just ugly. Plain and simple. For example, I love UGGS. They’re so are warm and comfortable but they are not the cutest things in the world. As I’ve grown, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d rather be warm then look cute. So here are my favorite rain and winter boots:
Sorel Winter Boots
How cute are both of these boots? Plus both with keep your feet warm and dry unlike UGGS in the rain and snow.
For anyone with a child age 3+, Lowe’s Build and Grow is something you have to check out. A few weeks ago my Mother-In-Law build a car with Jayden from a kit she purchased at Home Depot. He absolutely loved it and was so proud to show off the finish product. After a little research, I found out that Lowe’s and Home Depot both offer free building workshops for kids. We attended both workshops at Lowe’s in October and Jayden made a Monster Machine Puzzle and a Monster Truck. It takes us about 45 minutes to an hour to complete the project but I let Jayden follow the directions and build the entire thing on his own, only offering help or assistance when he is really stuck. The next 2 projects at Lowe’s are a Science Lab on November 12th and Santa’s Sleigh on November 19th. Get out of bed early on a Saturday and check it out!
Our son loves competition. What can I say? He is the son of a man who does not like to lose! Instead of playing with trucks, trains or legos like most 4 year olds do, Jayden likes games. Any type of game. Board games, card games, computer games and sport games. So if you have a child like Jayden, here is a list of the top 10 games played in our house (in no particular order minus sporting games).
1. Toy Story Yahtzee
2. Starfall: Learn to Read with phonics
3. Toy Story 3: 4 Card Games
5. Candy Land
6. Chutes and Ladders
7. Cootie Bug
8. Cat In The Hat: I Can Do That!
9. Table Top Air Hockey
10. Buzz Adventure Game
Do you and your family have a favorite game you like to play? If so, please share!
I used to be a totally Blackberry junkie. I loved my Blackberry and always will. A few months ago we made the decision to change provides due to poor reception. With all that came the retirement of my Blackberry and the introduction to the iPhone. No big deal, right? Well as of yesterday I am currently on my 3rd iPhone. How does that even happen? Most people have 1 iPhone until their ready to upgrade. For example, my friend Erin bought the original iPhone when it came out and she still has it (don’t mean to call you out, E)! I have to admit though, Apple Customer Service is absolutely amazing. Each time I’ve had a problem with my phone I walked in and within 20 minutes I was walking out with a new phone. No complaints there but I do hope this is my last iPhone until I am ready to upgrade a few years from now!
Have I ever told my about my love for photography? I absolutely love looking at “good photos.” I am amazing at what some people can do with their cameras and creatively. Unfortunately for me, I have no creative jeans in my blood so for now I will enjoy other peoples beautiful works!
With that being said, I have to tell you about my slight obsession with Instagram. Instagram is an iPhone application that allows you to add filters to your photos and making them look retro. I love it. It totally turns a dull photo into pictures that looks so cool (insert better adjective).
Get it iPhone users! Enjoy some of my favorites!
While visiting the Crispin Family in New Jersey I asked my friend Erin when she started to read chapter books to her kids. She proceeded to list numerous chapter books that the kids love. So when we returned back to Massachusetts I decided to set out in search of a short chapter book that Jayden could follow. I did a little research and came across the Magic Tree House collection by Mary Pope Osborne. So far, so good! Jayden really seems to like them and after every chapter we do a re-cap as to what happened. The only problem I am encountering is that they’re too short! Jayden wants to just keep reading (delaying bed time?) but if I read more than 2 chapters a day we finish the book in less than a week. The books are super cheap and can be bought on Amazon.com or The Christmas Tree Shop where my mom found a whole collection of them.
After cooking dinner on our Presto Cool Touch Foldaway Griddle last night and breakfast this morning, I had to add it to my favorite items. It takes the place of a frying pan and you can quadruple the amount of food a frying pan fits. For example, last night we had grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches and all 3 sandwiches were done at the same time. If you have a bigger family and more mouths to feed, this is perfect for you! I especially like the “foldaway” part of the griddle because the legs collapse which makes for easy storing.
I was reading All You magazine and I read an article about inexperience international flights via 3 websites. I checked them out for myself and you can really find some amazing deals for a quick holiday in Europe.
For example, on EasyJet I planned a 3 night vacation in Paris and a round-trip flight in late June is about 70 euros. That’s a steal if you ask me!
SkyScanner and Momondo also do trips throughout the United States!
>Jayden was blessed with Magnatiles for his birthday. He received so many gifts for his birthday that I put some away so he didn’t open them all in one day. I set these aside for a day that I needed a nice calming/relaxing activity for him to do. And today was the day! As soon as I opened up the box he was ready to dig in. He absolutely loved them. He literally played with them for 35 straight minutes (for Jayden, that’s a big deal)! He even followed the direction to make certain figures; a house, rocket ship and soccer ball. A big thanks to Miss. Kate and Mr. Daly!
Who would’ve thought baking soda has become one of my favorite products?
Confession: I have awful skin. And I mean awful. I believe I wrote a similar post about my skin and my current treatments (however, I can’t find it) but after visiting numerous dermatologists, using a handful of different medications daily and becoming so sensitive to sun that it hurt to be outside for more than an hour I threw in the towel. I literally threw away every medication I owned and broke a few frustration tears at the same time. It was then when I decide to go for a more alternative route; baking soda.
For about 5 weeks now I have been showering was baking soda. I make a thick paste and use it all over my body. Until this past week it has worked wonders. I have never been so happy to go for a more alternative and natural route in my life. Besides, .48 cents for a carton it is great on the wallet! Hopefully I can give you another update in about 3 more weeks telling you I’ve made more progress!
